Michael Wolcott Obituary: Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Riverside Claims Life of Michael Wolcott
A tragic crash along NW Mattox Road in Riverside on Wednesday morning has claimed the life of 35-year-old Michael Wolcott, leaving the community shaken.
The collision occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m. near NW 43rd Street, involving a motorcycle and a commercial truck. Emergency responders arrived quickly, with the Riverside Police Department initially handling the scene before the Platte County Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation.
Authorities say Wolcott was riding southbound on a Kawasaki motorcycle when he attempted to pass a truck traveling in the same direction. During that maneuver, the truck driver began turning into a nearby business, resulting in a devastating collision.
The impact caused Wolcott to be thrown from his motorcycle, which continued forward before leaving the roadway and striking a utility pole. Despite emergency medical efforts and transport to a nearby hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the truck was not injured. Investigators believe speed and the passing attempt were contributing factors, though the case remains under active review.
As authorities continue to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash, the loss of Michael Wolcott serves as a somber reminder of the dangers present on the road.
