A reported security concern at Carroll University led to precautionary lockdown measures on Thursday, raising concern among students and staff.

Campus officials activated emergency protocols after receiving alerts suggesting a potential threat. As part of standard safety procedures, individuals on campus were instructed to shelter in place while public safety officers and local law enforcement assessed the situation.

Authorities have not confirmed any active shooting or verified reports of gunfire. Officials emphasized that the response was precautionary while investigators worked to determine the credibility of the initial alert.

The university’s emergency notification system, PioALERT, was used to quickly inform the campus community, advising students and staff to remain indoors, avoid doors and windows, and follow official guidance until further notice.

Law enforcement continues to investigate the origin of the report and evaluate campus safety. At this stage, no injuries, suspects, or confirmed threats have been reported.
